This signature roundtrip voyage along the Norwegian coast travels from the southern city of Bergen, across the Arctic Circle, up to Kirkenes and back to Bergen. These 2,500 nautical miles feature some of the most stunning scenery on the planet. Norway’s world-famous fjords will be on full display, dotted with farms and charming fishing villages. Along the way, in each direction, the ship stops at 34 coastal communities, big and small, day and night.

What's it like on a Hurtigruten expedition cruise?

Hurtigruten expedition cruises focus on active exploration, with an emphasis on science and education. From small boats (RIBs) and optional activities—including hiking, kayaking, snorkeling and more—to a state-of-the-art Science Center, relevant lectures and a Citizen Science program, guests are immersed in amazing landscapes, get up close to rare wildlife, visit locations off the beaten path, socialize with local citizens and encounter unique cultures.

What should you expect on board?

The Hurtigruten fleet consists of small, agile ships and the world’s first hybrid electric-powered vessels. On board, guests will experience an informal, welcoming atmosphere, luxurious cabins, exquisite dining and stylish interiors made from natural materials. The ships are small enough to maneuver through fjords close to the coastline, offering exceptional views of the passing landscapes.

Are there expert guides on board?

Hurtigruten's Expedition Team includes handpicked experts who know their destinations better than anyone. They organize and guide activities both on board and ashore, are accessible to guests and share their vast knowledge of the places they explore. They’re specialists in a variety of fields and deliver engaging lectures on topics such as glaciology, history, biology, archeology and more.

How's the dining?

If you pictured an expedition ship as being a rusty old frigate with faded décor, prepare to have your expectations blown away. Your haven at sea is complete with comfortable cabins, luxurious suites and stylish interiors made from natural materials.

*Hurtigruten Expeditions: Guests will receive 90 euro onboard credit per person for all Hurtigruten Expeditions cruises, except on the MS Santa Cruz II where guests will receive a $100 USD onboard credit per person. For Hurtigruten Expeditions cruises where the onboard credit is given in euro (EUR), the USD equivalent will fluctuate due to the exchange rate at the time of usage. Hurtigruten Norwegian Coastal Express: Guests will receive 600 Norwegian Kroner onboard credit per person for the 11- or 12-day Norwegian Discovery and Roundtrip Coastal cruises; guests will receive 300 Norwegian Kroner onboard credit per person for the 6-day Cruise South or 7-day Cruise North. The onboard credit is given in Norwegian Krone (NOK) on all Hurtigruten Norwegian Coastal Express cruises. The USD equivalent will fluctuate due to the exchange rate at the time of usage. The offer is valid for new bookings, and North American residents 18 years or older only. The offer is limited to two persons per cabin. The onboard credit is not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash. Guests who do not use the full amount of the onboard credit during their purchased sailing will not be refunded the remaining credit.
