Lauren E. Oakes is a scientist and writer who specializes in forests, climate, and our complex relationships with the natural world. Her first book, In Search of the Canary Tree was selected as one of Science Friday’s Best Science Books of 2018, won second place for the 2019 Rachel Carson Book Award, and was a finalist for the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine Communication Award. She’s written for media and literary outlets such as the New York Times, National Geographic, Scientific American, Emergence Magazine, and Lit Hub. Lauren’s new book Treekeepers: The Race for a Forested Future will be released November 12, 2024 and is available for pre-order.
